'I respond to stories, and I project layers of narrative on to people I see and draw. Using pen and watercolor at the same time is unpredictable and exciting, just like people. You may think you know where you are going with a drawing, an interaction or a relationship, but it can veer away from that expectation for a million different reasons.  That’s fun. I often start by capturing what physically appeals to me, and I am most pleased when an otherwise inexpressible emotion or situation manifests. My drawings are spare, usually one man or a couple, and from these I tend to construct an intense world of feelings'.
